Moss Bury Primary School

Where achievement has no limits!

Welcome to Year 3

Miss Brown's Class

 Learning Commitments

Learning commitments are the skills we are committed to learning each term. By doing so, we know we will improve our reading, writing and maths.

English:

To write compound sentences with adjectives and adverbs

Maths:

To recall our number facts to 20.

Reading:

To find and retrieve.

Moss Bury's Values

In class HB, we work hard to show Moss Bury's four key values. These are:

- Hard Work

- Kindness

- Honesty

- Love of Learning

By showing these in our behaviour and approach to work, we know we can reach our full potential.

Topic Work

This half term in year 3 our topic is ‘In the Stone Age’.

To begin this topic, the children will take part in a trip, where they will experience a range of exciting activities such as den building and watching a fire lighting demonstration.

The children will be learning about changes in Britain during the Stone Age, and they will be creating a timeline of events. The children will study what life was like and how it differs to present day, for example, houses, food and lifestyle. They will learn about some key geographical sites like Stone Henge.

They will use this knowledge to write their own instructions and recounts in English.

You can start learning about The Stone Age now by visiting web sites.

 Homework

Homework this year will be given out on a Friday and is due in the following Thursday.

This is an opportunity for the children to work independently and to practise hard work and perseverance. Their work will be marked purely on effort and the children who try the hardest will be rewarded.

Literacy homework will be a reinforcement of work the children have already done independently during the week. This will give them another opportunity to practise a key skill on their own.

Similarly, in Maths, the children will practise skills that they have learnt during the week.

Useful Websites

As part of our Maths work, we are working hard to learn our times tables without using our fingers to help. We are also learning number bonds and number facts. Here are some websites, which offer some fun games to help us practise these important facts.
